V ~(으)ㄴ 적이있다/없다 [Korean Grammar]

There's another way of stating whether you have the experience of doing something or not, by using V + 아/어 보다 form that we studied earlier.

This pattern is always attached directly to the end of a verb stem.

The conjugation rules are:

  • If the stem ends with no 받침, then V + ㄴ 적이 있다/없다 is used.
  • If the stem ends with a 받침, then V + 은 적이 있다/없다 is used.

Let's try to understand the usage with the following examples:

1) 너는 이 수업에 결석한 적이 있니?

Have you ever been absent from this class?

2) 지금처럼 경제가 좋았던 적이 있었습니까?

Was there a time when the economy was as good as it is now?
