Today we're looking at the difference between the usage of 데 and 때 with the nouns.
As we have already learnt about the usage of 때 in our previous chapters.
It denotes the specific time or the moment when something takes place.
It is used to describe the time when a certain phenomenon or event occurs OR a state of being in a certain case.
Let's try to understand it's usage with the help of some examples :
1) I was in England at the time of his death.
그가 죽었을 때 난 영국에 있었다.
2) It's about time my father showed up.
아빠가 오실 때가 되었다.
3) I liked him from the first time I met him.
나는 처음 만났을 때부터 그를 좋아했다.
4) A thief broke in while I was sleeping.
내가 자고 있을 때 도둑이 들었다.
5) Keep trying it until you succeed.
될 때까지 몇 번이고 다시 하세요.

데 on the other hand is used to denote place, point, spot, location, site, area etc.
The other words to denote place is 곳.
Let's try to understand the usage with the help of few examples :
1) This is no place for children.
여기는 애들이 올 데가 아니다
2) There's a place where we have to stop by.
잠깐 같이 들를 데가 있다
3) Sit wherever you like.
앉고 싶은 데 아무 데나 앉아라
4) It's far from where he lives.
그가 사는 데는 여기서 멀다
5) Are you hurt anywhere?
어디 다친 데 없어요?
6) He had become someone with nowhere to go.
그는 오갈 데 없는 신세가 되었다
With the above mentioned examples. You must have now understood the usage of 데 and 때.
