There's another way of stating whether you have the experience of doing something or not, is by using V + 아/어 보다 form that we have studied earlier.

This pattern is always attached directly to the end of a verb stem.

The conjugation rules are :
  1. If the stem ends with no 받침 then V+ ㄴ적이 있다/없다 has to be used.
  2. If the stem ends with a 받침 then V + 은 적이 있다/없다 as to be used.
Let's try to understand the usage with the following examples :

1) 너는 이 수업에 결석한 적이 있니?

Have you ever been absent from this class?

2) 지금처럼 경제가 좋았던 적이 있었습니까?

Was there a time when the economy was as good as it is now?
