Today we'll be looking at the usage of "V ~(으)ㄴ 적이있다/없다" with some example sentences.
It is used to expresses having or not having a particular experience in the past : I have / haven't had the experience of.
An expression used to indicate that the act or state mentioned in the preceding statement existed at some point in time.
There's another way of stating whether you have the experience of doing something or not, is by using V + 아/어 보다 form that we have studied earlier.
This pattern is always attached directly to the end of a verb stem.
The conjugation rules are :
- If the stem ends with no 받침 then V+ ㄴ적이 있다/없다 has to be used.
- If the stem ends with a 받침 then V + 은 적이 있다/없다 as to be used.
Let's try to understand the usage with the following examples :
1) 너는 이 수업에 결석한 적이 있니?
Have you ever been absent from this class?
2) 지금처럼 경제가 좋았던 적이 있었습니까?
Was there a time when the economy was as good as it is now?
3) 대학 입학 후에 소개팅을 한 적이 있어?
Have you ever had a blind date after entering college?
4) 전에 저 사람을 어디 선가 만난 적이 있어요.
I've met him somewhere before.
5) 아파서 병원에 입원 한 적이 있습니다.
Have you ever been sick and admitted to a hospital?
6) 그 회사에 육 개월 다닌 적이 있습니다.
I worked at the company for 6 months.
7) 사고를 내서 벌금을 낸 적이 꼭 한 번 있어요.
I did get in an accident once and have to pay a fine.
8) 그런 얘기를 한 번도 들어 본 적이 앉는 데 내가 어떻게 알아요?
I had never heard that before so how was I supposed to know?
9) 한번도 술을 마신 적이 없어?
Have you ever drunk some alcohol?
